IA Tour Algérie 2026 – AI for Smart Tourism

The IA Tour Algérie 2026 competition invites Algerian students, researchers, developers, startups, and project holders to develop innovative solutions for the tourism sector using artificial intelligence and immersive technologies.

Launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, the initiative aims to modernize the visitor experience, promote Algeria’s tourism and cultural heritage, and support technology-driven entrepreneurship.

Competition Themes

Projects must address one of the following themes:

• Immersive Experiences: Virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D modelling, NeRF, and generative image or video content.
• Personalized Tourism: Conversational AI, large language models, recommendation systems, and personalized visitor journeys.
• Tourism Performance: Big data, tourism-flow forecasting, hotel-management optimization, and responsible data use.

Who Can Apply?

The competition is open to Algerian nationals living in Algeria or abroad, including:

• Students, researchers, and independent developers
• Labelled startups or startups seeking certification
• Project holders
• Teams of up to five members

Application Requirements

Applications must include:

• An executive summary of no more than three pages
• A proof of concept, such as a two-minute video, functional prototype, or code repository
• A business case explaining the project’s economic viability and potential impact on Algerian tourism

Evaluation Criteria

• Technical Innovation: 35 points
• Tourism Impact: 35 points
• Feasibility and Scalability: 20 points
• Presentation Quality: 10 points

Prizes

• First Prize: 1,000,000 DZD
• Second Prize: 600,000 DZD
• Third Prize: 400,000 DZD

Timeline

• 2026-05-19: Official launch and opening of applications
• 2026-08-19: Application deadline
• 2026-09-01: Shortlist announcement and video-pitch phase
• Early September: In-person or hybrid demo days
• 2026-09-27: Final and awards ceremony during World Tourism Day

Intellectual Property and Ethics

Participants retain the intellectual property rights to their projects. Submitted solutions must comply with personal-data protection requirements, cybersecurity standards, and measures addressing algorithmic bias.
